The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute surprises and upsets. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Vaqueros (19-8) in Carolina on Friday night. Visitors were rolled over by fifth ranked Gigantes (11-16) 92-58. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Vaqueros. Gigantes dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Vaqueros' 34. They outrebounded Vaqueros 46-26 including a 37-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Gigantes looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Nigerian power forward Alade Aminu (207-1987, college: Georgia Tech) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds. American guard Sheldon McClellan (196-1992, college: Miami, FL, agency: Slash Sports) contributed with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. The former international Javier Mojica (189-1984, college: CCSU) answered with 14 points for Vaqueros. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gigantes moved-up to fourth place. Vaqueros at the other side still keep top position with eight games lost. Gigantes are looking forward to face higher ranked Leones (#3) in Juana Diaz in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Vaqueros will play on the road against Brujos in Guayama and are hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Juana Diaz. Second ranked Capitanes (17-10) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging leader Leones (17-12) 87-84 on Saturday evening. It was a great evening for Dominican Victor Liz (193-1986) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Walter Hodge helped adding 11 points and 6 assists. The former international guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-1991, agency: Interperformances) responded with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Capitanes have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Quebradillas. Leones at the other side dropped to the third place with 12 games lost. Capitanes will play against Cariduros (#3) in Fajardo in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Leones will play on the road against Gigantes in Carolina and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Grises' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Renaldo Balkman came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds for Mets in the defeat. Grises maintains sixth place with 8-20 record. Mets lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 17 games lost. Grises will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Mets will play against Atleticos (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 23: Quebradillas beat Santurce on the road 89-76. Fajardo won against Guayama on its own court 86-74. Mayaguez unfortunately lost to San German in a road game 73-78. Quebradillas managed to beat Guaynabo at home 84-75. Humacao was crushed by Santurce on the opponent's court 75-99.
The most impressive performance of 23th round was 12 points and 21 rebounds by Cheick Diallo of Santurce.



Santurce - Quebradillas 76-89

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when third ranked Piratas (17-10) beat second-ranked Cangrejeros (15-13) in Santurce 89-76 on Friday. Piratas looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Jeremy Tyler (208-1991, college: Louisville) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. The former international point guard Gary Browne (185-1993, college: WVU) accounted for 15 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side. Mali power forward Cheick Diallo (206-1996, college: Kansas) came up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds and international guard Gian Clavell (193-1993, college: Colorado St., agency: Octagon Europe) added 10 points and 4 assists respectively for Cangrejeros in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Piratas used an opportunity after Arecibo lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Loser Cangrejeros keep the second place with 13 games lost. They share the position with San German. Piratas will meet Leones (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Cangrejeros will play against Indios in Mayaguez and hope to secure a win.

A very close game took place in Guaynabo between Grises and Mets. Sixth ranked Grises (8-20) got a very close victory on the road over 5th ranked Mets (11-17). Grises managed to escape with a 3-point win 100-97 on Friday evening. Grises looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Malcolm Miller (200-1993, college: Holy Cross) who led the winners and scored 25 points (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). His fellow American import guard Gabriel Belardo (188-1989, college: FIU) accounted for 18 points and 10 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for the winning side. Belardo is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Grises' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The former international forward Renaldo Balkman (201-1984, college: S.Carolina) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and the former international guard Tyquan Rolon (192-1995, college: LeMoyne) added 22 points respectively for Mets in the defeat. Cariduros outrebounded Brujos 49-29 including a 40-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was an exceptional evening for international forward Emmanuel Andujar (197-1993, college: Manhattan) who led the winners with a triple-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). The former international Alexander Abreu (179-1991, college: UWG) accounted for 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Hiram Huertas came up with 29 points and American guard Josh Perkins (191-1995, college: Gonzaga, agency: Slash Sports) added 14 points and 5 assists respectively for Brujos in the defeat. Five Cariduros and four Brujos players scored in double figures. Cariduros maintains third place with 14-14 record having four points less than leader Arecibo, which they share with Mayaguez. Loser Brujos keep the sixth position with 19 games lost. Cariduros will meet league's leader Capitanes in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
